‘Illness’, was the first exhibition of Erin’s Work in Sydney and took place at the Somedays gallery and store in Surry Hills. Just down the road from favourite drinking hole The Cricketeers Arms! Although the installation itself was poorly documented images of the work still remain and can be viewed in the illustration and painting galleries. Thanks to owner and Surry Hills personality Mattias and curator Kristen Perich for the opportunity.
Press release (Edit): “Produced during and inspired by her first twelve months of residence in Sydney, “Illness” is part whimsical folk, dead street and part social commentary with Forsyth combining notes on scene culture, quarter life crises and the mundane. Visual interests in grimy walls, Heironymous Bosch, children’s book illustration and religious iconography join to create work unsettling in tone but charmingly detailed in appearance.
With painted works in aerosol, acrylic and also black and white illustration ‘Illness’ draws in and involves; building a rapport between the fictional and real life modern ills.”
